Holographic Target Board for Ground Target Irradiance/Fluence Measurement
Technical Approach
- Photo-thermo-refractive glass can record a hologram of an object under UV illumination
- Hologram is “developed” in a furnace at 400 C
Hologram stable up to development temperature - Program will develop small-aperture diffusers as a risk reduction measure
- Full-scale diffusers will be developed once techniques have been refined with the small diffusers
- Development is guided by requirements determined from discussions with labs and test ranges
Program Highlights
- The holographic target board will provide a reusable target for beam irradiance profile measurement
- The target boards will be rugged and will be consistent from board to board
System Requirements and Capabilities
- Create a diffusely-scattering target board based on a hologram created in low-absorption photo-thermo-refractive glass
- Document the requirements for the target board
- Develop 2” square holographic diffusers
- Risk reduction - Develop 20” square holographic target boards for HEL system tests
